Hodgkinson Cup holders Bentley Builders begin defence of Bourne crown
A highlight of Bourne’s cricketing calendar swings into action at the Abbey Lawn this week.
The popular Sixes competition for the Hodgkinson Cup takes place every night with a number of day games organised by Bourne Cricket Club.
They take on Holkham Hall on Wednesday before the hosting the Lincs Gents on Thursday with both matches getting underway at noon.
A junior and ladies day takes place at the Abbey Lawn on Friday with organisers looking to add a couple more fixtures to fill the Monday and Tuesday matches.
The evening entertainment will see Bentley Builders begin the defence of their Hodgkinson Cup crown as eight teams split over two groups aim to sample sixes success.
Bourne Rugby Club, Bourne Town FC and the Mighty Ducks will provide the opposition for the reigning champions in Group B with Motley Crew, Baston, Bourne Skip Hire (Sergies Sloggers) and Happy Hookers competing in Group A.
The action gets underway at 6.15pm each night with group games throughout the week and finals night on Friday. There will be a raffle and barbecue with the bar open each evening.
