GCSE results 2020: Bourne Grammar

This year’s GCSE cohort approached results day with anxiety following the national crisis surrounding last week’s A-level results, but the hardwork while at school paid off for students at Bourne Grammar.

Jonathan Maddox, headteacher at Bourne Grammar, said: “The results duly and fairly recognise the quality of this able cohort. The students have been properly rewarded for the hard work, focus and ambition that was so in evidence before their GCSE year was so suddenly cut short back in March.

At Bourne Grammar 19 per cent of results were grade 9, 39 per cent grade 8 or 9 and 63 per cent grade 7,8 or 9. Scott Merriman and Marcus Walker each secured a eleven grade 9 passes - a results which few students in the country will have achieved.

Mr Maddox said: “Across the board students have obtained results of which they can be proud as they move on to their next challenges, well prepared, confident and ready to build on what they have achieved.”
