Reports of a possible earthquake felt in Rutland and Stamford tonight




People are reporting on Twitter that they felt a possible earthquake in Rutland and Stamford tonight at about 8.30pm (Wednesday, October 2).

A seismic graph for the Charnwood area shows a spike, according to the British Geological Survey, which monitors earthquakes in the UK.

On Twitter several people said they felt the quake in Rutland and Stamford.

Between 2013 and 2015, nine small earthquakes were recorded in Rutland.
